Teaching Philosophy

As a soprano and music educator, my goal is to give voice students the necessary techniques and support to become a successful singer in a healthy way and become a well rounded musician. For flute students, my goal is to develop a good embouchure with good technique. For piano students, my goal is to develop finger technique, use proper fingerings in music and learn music theory that can be applied to any instrument besides piano.

The 1st key to success for voice students is breath management. It is my priority to teach students proper breath management so they can sustain their voice without causing damage. Throughout the guidance, I give students instruction on how to breathe properly.

The 2nd key to success for voice students is making your vowels sound natural. It is my priority to teach students on how to make your vowels sound natural so the audience can hear what you are singing. Throughout the guidance, I demonstrate how to make the students’ vowels sound natural without doing extra work to their muscles.

The 3rd key to success for voice students is to develop a sense of acting. It is my priority to teach students how to act while singing a song. The type of acting I like to use in my students is sense memory acting where they can draw upon their life experiences and use it in their song.
